School Day

The School Day

In the morning:

Woodpeckers Breakfast club opens at 7.30am to 8.30am.  For more details, please follow the link below.

We open the gates between 8.35am and 8.45am for children and families to arrive.  We use a one-way system for both collections and drop offs.  Families come in using the green gate by the alleyway next to the infant classrooms and leave via the green gate by Willow class (Year 2).  Infant parents drop off at the classroom door whilst junior parents tend to drop off in the playground, with children walking into their classrooms by themselves.  There are always members of staff on each gate who can take messages or answer questions.  School officially starts at 8.45am and registers are taken at this point.  Any families arriving after this time, need to go straight to the office to be signed in.

Playtimes:

The school go out to play together from 10.40am to 10.55am.  During the warmer months, the children can use the playground, field and Humpty.  In the winter, the children use the playground and Humpty.

The infant children are provided with a free snack of either fruit or vegetables as part of the Governments Free Fruit or Vegetables scheme.  (This does not arrive until the afternoon of the first day back, so children will need to bring in their own snack after each holiday)  The juniors will need to bring in their own healthy snack for playtimes.  Snacks can be fruit, vegetables, plain rice cakes or breadsticks and cheese.  They take their snack out with them to eat before playing.

Lunchtimes:

The infants have lunch in the hall from 12.00pm to 12.30pm and then go out to play until 1.00pm.  the juniors go out to play from 12.00pm to 12.30pm and then go into the hall for lunch from 12.30pm to 1.00pm.

Infant children receive a Universal Free School meal (UFSM) each day.  This is provided by Chartwells.  Junior children can still have a hot meal but this will need to ordered via Chartwells and paid for.  Children can bring in a packed lunch instead.  Please follow the link for more information.

Our Sports Leaders work with our Infant children each lunchtime, setting up and playing games with them each day.

Assemblies:

We have assembly in the hall from 10.20am to 10.40am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.  On a Tuesday, we have class assemblies.  Friday is our Celebration assembly from 2.30pm.  Parents are invited in weekly, to see their child receive a certificate for all their hard work.  When it is your child’s award, you will get a phone call from the office, inviting you in.

The end of the day.

School finishes at 3.05pm for our infants and 3.15pm for our juniors.  Children collect their belongings ready to go home.  We use the same system as the morning drop off for collecting your child.  Infant children are collected from their classroom doors.  Juniors are collected from the main playground at 3.15pm.

Woodpeckers After School club:

For those children going to Woodpeckers, the class teacher will take them after the children have gone home.  Most days this is in the hall.  Please follow the link below for more details.

After School clubs:

We run a range of different after school clubs for our children after school each day.  Please follow the link for more details.
