Mulberry Class - Year 5

Welcome to Mulberry’s class page.

Your teacher is Mrs Donnelly.

Miss Daly and Mrs Swann also work in our class.

Year 5 is the first of two year groups working in Upper Key Stage 2. We pride ourselves on encouraging the children to really develop their independence as we begin to prepare them for secondary education. However, there is a lot of fun and learning to be had before then so you will see all of our children embracing the Loxwood Way key characteristics of Collaboration, Perseverance and Happiness. The children make great strides in their progress as they take on a greater role in developing their own learning, self assessing and identifying their next steps. We are very focused on developing the necessary skills in Maths and English but ensure that there is plenty of opportunity for the children to explore and apply these skills across the curriculum.

Below you will see the spelling lists for this half term. Your child will be able to tell you which spelling group they are in. The children are tested on the spellings every Friday morning and new spellings are given out that day too.
We had a lovely time in the forest this afternoon. We made picture frames out of sticks and created a picture out of natural objects to go inside.
Please see below the documentation from Sayers Croft for our upcoming day trips.
Useful Resources
The English curriculum is full of lots of technical grammatical terms. Please have a look at the government's glossary below to find out what they all mean.
