Mulberry Class - Year 5

Welcome to Mulberry’s class page.

Your teacher is Mrs Donnelly.

Mrs Tedd will work with us on a Monday and Tuesday and Mrs Pinder will work with us on a Wednesday and Thursday.

Year 5 is the first of two year groups working in Upper Key Stage 2. We pride ourselves on encouraging the children to really develop their independence as we begin to prepare them for secondary education. However, there is a lot of fun and learning to be had before then so you will see all of our children embracing the Loxwood Way key characteristics of Collaboration, Perseverance and Happiness. The children make great strides in their progress as they take on a greater role in developing their own learning, self assessing and identifying their next steps. We are very focused on developing the necessary skills in Maths and English but ensure that there is plenty of opportunity for the children to explore and apply these skills across the curriculum.

Here is the topic web for our Autumn 'Discover' term in Year 5!

Homework Grid
Below you will find our homework grid for this term's topic:
"Out of this World."
I would like you to try and complete two piece of homework each half term. Once you have completed a piece feel free to bring it into school so that you can share your homework with everyone in the class.
Spellings
I will collect in the spelling books every Friday morning.
The expectation in Year 5 is that the children learn their spellings each week and write ten sentences into their spelling books, each containing one of the spellings from that week's list. They will be tested on their spellings every Friday morning.
Useful Resources
The English curriculum is full of lots of technical grammatical terms. Please have a look at the government's glossary below to find out what they all mean.
