 27th January 2021

Here is a new Flat Target Accuracy challenge for this week. You need to throw your object and get it to land on the flat target.
  • Challenge 1 - Can you hit the target on the first bounce?
  • Challenge 2 - Can you get the object to stay on the target?
To stay on the target, you will need to think about the height, weight and timing of your release.

Below is a video of Mr Green introducing the activity with some help from children at home.

I will need three new volunteers for next week. If you think that could be you, email year6@loxwoodschool.com!

Here is a new sock challenge for you. While standing on one leg, place a sock on each of the targets. Next, without putting your foot back down, collect each sock one by one. See if you can keep your balance while you complete the whole activity. How long did it take you to do it? Can you improve your time?

Be sure to reach down low and carefully place the socks on the target (without throwing them).

To make the activity harder, you can increase the number of targets.

13th-27th November 2020

We have selected three little challenges that you can complete at home in isolation. They need minimal resources and space. Each activity only takes 30 seconds but we would like to see some self-competition throughout the week. How much can you improve your score by? We will be meeting with Mr Green next week so you can let him know how you have been getting on.

These activities are the same for all four junior classes. You may want to think about how you can make them easier or harder. For example you could change the distance or the size of the object you are throwing.

Sports Leaders
In order to support and select our Sports Leaders, Mr Green had the Year 6s on Monday 14th September 2020 for a training day. They were encouraged to think about the values needed to make a good leader; plan and deliver sports activities to other children. It was an incredibly enjoyable and productive day.

Well done to Danny, Tyler, Ben, Timothy, Ella, and Mary who have all been selected.

Throughout the year they will have to officiate, coach, and lead activities. They will also help organise intra-school competitions and school sport opportunities.
