On Wednesday 18th January, an UKS team represented the school in a Tag-Rugby tournament which was held at The Weald. After a few warm up games and an introduction to the rules from Mr Meaney, we competed against 6 other teams from the locality. All the games were incredibly close: we lost our first game to Shipley by only 1 try!
The children all made great progress throughout the games - keeping to their formation more, demonstrating resilience with their tagging and being more attacking. Clearly the determination and perseverance paid off as we went on to win our final game 3 tries to 0 (against Plaistow and Kirdford).

KS2 Autumn House Matches 2022
Finally on Wednesday 7th December, the weather was on our side and we were able to go ahead with our KS2 Autumn House Matches with parents attending to support. All KS2 children represented their house in either Hockey to Football and were able to demonstrate some of the skills they have learnt during their PE lessons with Mr Green in the Autumn Term.
This was also the first opportunity of the year to fully utilise our new House Captains and Sports Leaders. The House Captains managed their teams and tried to keep them as even as possible. The Sports Leaders worked really hard, taking on many roles including: time keeping, scoring and referring the games.
House Hockey
We played this as a mixed 6-a-side round robin tournament meaning each team played everyone.

On Wednesday 9th November, 41 KS2 children took part in a cross-country tournament at The Weald. This was split into 5 different categories: Year 3 & 4s, Year 5 girls, Year 5 boys, Year 6 girl and Year 6 boys.
While it was incredibly wet under foot, the sun was shining and all the children embraced the challenge. They were fantastic representatives for the school.
Special mentions to: James Jones who won his race as well as Harley Parker and Tillie Pawley who came third in their races.
L-KS2 Multi Skills at The Weald
Rowan Class had a brilliant time on Wednesday (12th October) taking part in a L-KS2 Multi-Skills festival organised by The Weald School. This was a fantastic opportunity which allowed all the children to get involved in various sporting activities in a fun and competitive way, against six other locality primary schools. They participated in relay type activities that aimed to improve agility, throwing and jumping etc. Mrs Calvert was impressed with the entire class who represented our school superbly, demonstrating some of our school values: collaboration, kindness and resilience! Mr Meaney even complimented us for our jumping skills! Thank you to everyone who helped at this event.
Talented Athletes Launch Event at The Weald
On Wednesday 5th October, some of our Year 5 and 6 children attended a Talented Athletes Launch Event at The Weald which was hosted by Mr Meaney. This is the first of three events they will attend throughout the year. The children participated in activities including: Orienteering, SAQ (Speed Agility and Quickness), Fitness and Ball Skills.
"I thought it was a really fun day as we did lots of different skills. It was good to mix with other schools too." (Libby, Year 5)
"This was my first time representing Loxwood and I really enjoyed it. We did activities to help us improve our speed. It was good to spend the day at The Weald and get to know it better." (Gideon, Year 6)
